Just In Case
Montana weather is notoriously unpredictable. You can expect cool, windy mornings that warm up quickly into hot and sunny afternoons. When the sun goes down expect it to cool back off with lovely breezes down the valley.
- Gloves
- Beanie
- Base layers / thermals
- Bug spray (summer)
- Rain gear
- Flashlight

If You’re Fishing
- Waders / personal fishing gear (optional)
- Don’t worry if you don’t have your own gear, we provide everything you may need!
- Polarized sunglasses (optional)
- These lenses help you see fish under the water better!
- Pants
- Make sure your pants will be comfortable under a pair of waders. We recommend hiking pants, leggings, or anything lightweight and comfortable!
- Bug spray
- Bugs on the water mean the fishing will be good!
- Sun screen
- The Montana sun is strong so sun protection is key to enjoying your experience. Bring your own or borrow some from your Guide on the water!
- Hat
- The best way to keep the sun off your face!

If You’re Horseback Riding
- Boots
- If you are riding, make sure to have closed toe shoes, preferably with a heel and minimal tread. If you don’t have cowboy boots, hiking boots work too!
- Long Pants
- Traditionally we wear jeans on the trail but bring what you will feel most comfortable in. Long pants are essential to prevent chaffing on our leather saddles.
- Hat
- We offer helmets but do not require them for adults. If you choose to skip the helmet, sun protection is a must have!
- Sunscreen
- The Montana sun is strong so sun protection is key to enjoying your experience. Bring your own or borrow some from your Wrangler on the trail!
- Water
- It’s easy to get dehydrated in the summer heat. Remember to bring your water! We also sell electrolytes in our store.
- Rain Gear
- You never know when a summer rain might hit. Bring your own gear or borrow some from the Ranch. No ponchos please!
